Selfridges Window Installations
Every Year Selfridges store in London creates a theme, which runs for a month, in 2003 the theme was “BodyCraze”.
The brief was to chose a part of the human body then create a window installation based on that choice making it relevant to the stores contents.
The idea: Highlight the skin, which is amazing and happened to be body’s largest organ.
A portrait photograph was taken of a young girl scanned into the computer then vectorised and segmented into a 23x23 grid each vector segment was then Dulux Paint colour matched with the aid of there in-store machines.
A 50mmx50mm sample pot of paint was produced for each segment. Individual labels were then designed for each pot which enabled a large mosaic of the portrait to be made. Amazingly, no two colours were the same.
